David Klemmer has been given an undisclosed suspended fine by the Newcastle Knights after being dropped this week.
Klemmer was left out of the side that will face the Wests Tigers on Sunday afternoon after refusing to come off the ground for a substitution in the Knights’ round 20 clash against the Bulldogs.
The club confirmed the punishment in a statement after a mediation session involving Klemmer, his management and Knights powerbrokers.
Klemmer has accepted his responsibility for failing to follow direction and resumed training with his teammates on Friday.
“The Newcastle Knights take all Human Resources matters very seriously, and all such matters will be treated in an identical manner,” the Knights’ statement read, in part.
“The club has instigated a new procedure to ensure due process and procedural fairness is consistently applied, including mediation by the Director of Football prior to escalation of any matters to the group chief executive officer or human resources in future.”
